Morning, happy Sunday!
This week features an incredible Podcast, Ted Talk, a few Substack reads I loved and a delicious 10-minute pantry recipe.
A Ted Talk - titled “A Palestinian and Israeli, Face to Face,” is a must watch. Aziz Abuh Sarah and Maoz Inon are two of the most beautiful souls I’ve ever encountered. My heart just swelled seeing the two of them valiantly choose to find the threads of connection and understanding between them after such unimaginable circumstances.
A Podcast - A friend sent this to me. It’s a chat with Harvard scientist Dr. Ellen Langer about the mind-body connection. The title didn’t entice me but 2 minutes in and I was hooked. This is such an empowering, mind-bending/opening Podcast. One of the best I’ve heard.
Substack reads of the fortnight - This crazy good list on 40 Things I Needed to Hear, the witty and binge-able why everyone wants to be the internet’s librarian and a some really good points in we’re all somehow on a “healing” journey.
A documentary - I stumbled on this documentary with Patti Smith and Jonathan Miller set in New York in the 70’s and really enjoyed it. I also loved Patti’s Substack Post this week. It was comforting to hear that she questions her creative impulses from time to time.
A quote - “Inspiration exists... but it has to find you working” - Pablo Picasso
A delicious 10 minute pantry recipe - I was running out of food and had the inspired idea to use the semolina I had leftover from a cake I made to make savoury pancakes. I then topped it with whatever veg I had left in the fridge. I just added semolina, a couple of tablespoons of oil and then mixed with my hands until the oil was blended in. Then I added water until it looked like pancake batter. Then salt and spices. I added cumin and coriander. It goes crispy on the outside and really lovely and fluffy on the inside. I drizzled it with tahini that had hardened a bit so I made it nice again by mixing with water, a little lemon and salt
.
A crochet project - I free-handed this guy based on a photo this week. I’m holding the fabric back in the left photo, because as you can see on the right, it’s a little loose. Anyway, I might make another this week.
